What does it mean to be progressive?
To me, the definition of being progressive is to strive to push society further, and to implement the change people want and have been fighting for to not only improve the quality of life, but also provides society a opportunity to mature by moving away from hate, discrimination, racism, sexism etc.
Why did I choose this topic?
Mainly because of immediate family I have who happen to be veterans, it makes it easier to relate to the topic. I also chose it because the Veteran topic covers a variety of issues, from healthcare, homelessness to the VA.

Immersion Exp:
In the progressive project we were tasked to immerse ourselves in the issue by making our best attempt to simulate what it would be like to be a veteran. With our best efforts, we came up with the idea to give out free car washes. We put in hard work for no reward of long spans of time.

Why do I feel this way?
Because progressive day to me, was pretty much our immersion experience. We stood around for hours, for a few people to show up, the people who do engage with us kinda just "shrug" us off, and I'm left with the feeling the nobody really cares. Its just the same response over and over, "Oh wow" "That must be a great school". The same two bullshit comments I have been hearing since 6th grade.

Progressive project reflection.
\My biggest challenge is keeping both feet in the project. For me, it's a never ending struggle to stay engaged in the project, because at the end of the day, I truly hate to say this but I don't care, at all. Even though I have a pretty extensive military background in my family I still don't care. Its like trying to connect two repelling magnets. Say even if you do complete the task, as soon as they get the opportunity the two magnets bounce back. Point is, even with all the support, all of the "attempted" encouragement, I still feel like I'm exactly where I started, if anything I feel less passionate about veteran issues.
That doesn't mean the project is all bad, that was just MY experience. One of the things I like about the project and really appreciated is the structure of the project and the whole idea. It's great for us High School students to be able to engage and in some cases completely immerse ourselves in a issue that really strikes us and pulls our attention, and to be able to actually contribute to said issue? On paper this idea sounds amazing, and in reality it is, it's just that you need the right people. I kinda feel like this project is a little too, "adult" for us. Its a lot to ask for, its self-accountable, its open-ended, it has a malleable calendar, but don't get me wrong these are all good things, but it was just the timing and execution mixed with the negative vibe that goes around that shaped the result of the project, which in my eyes could have been a lot better. How did I gain this perspective? Well it's pretty straight forward, just by being in class and observing what happens around me is what shaped my opinion on this project.
I feel like my project kind of helped my user ? Say if we did have any "users". We really only had 1 or 2. But for there case I feel like we made a "neutral" impact. It's still ultimately up to the user to take advantage of what we give them. But say they do use our card, than by a chance there lives can change for the better. I just wish it looked more professional, so it could really catch someones eye, resulting in more people using our card.
